学院概况:西南交通大学艺术与传播学院2004年6月成立,前身为西南交大人文社会科学学院美术系、中文系及音乐系。学院成立以来,大力推进了我校人文艺术学科的建设与发展,加强了艺术文化类学科与理工学科间的交叉渗透,并通过人文艺术与技术学科的互动,逐步形成一个富有创造活力的良性发展空间及在国内外卓有影响的人文与艺术学科群。学院设有艺术设计系、工业设计系、美术学系、中文系、传播学系、音乐系等6个教学单位;2个研究所:国际应用美术研究所、人机环境系统设计研究所;4个研究中心:比较文学与当代文化研究中心、影视文化研究中心、当代艺术研究中心、巴蜀方言与文献研究中心;并有艺术创作综合实验中心、传播与影视实验中心、音乐教学实践中心等三个实验室。学院还担负着建设国家大学生文化素质教育基地的工作,并设有四川省设计艺术人才培养基地。学院在编教职工150余人,其中教授20余名,副教授40多人,具有博士、硕士学位的教师占70%以上。教师中有多名由奥地利、德国、美国、日本、俄罗斯等国学成归来的学者和艺术家。同时,学院还聘请了40余名国内外知名艺术家和学者担任顾问和客座教授。学院有完整的学士—硕士---博士培养体系,设有1个一级学科博士学位点,7个二级学科博士学位点,3个一级学科硕士学位点,9个本科专业方向。目前在校本科生2300多人,硕士、博士研究生近500人,继续教育学生150余人。AbouttheSchoolTheSchoolofArtsandCommunicationswasfoundedinJune2004,incorporatingtheDepartmentsofFineArts,ChineseLanguageandLiterature,andMusicfromtheSchoolofHumanitiesandSocialScience.TheSchoolcommitsitselftothedevelopmentandshapingofaseriesofinfluentialdisciplinesofhumanitiesandarts,dissolvesthedistinctiveboundariesbetweenthesubjectsofliberalartsandculturesandthoseofscienceandengineering,andthroughtheinteractionandinterrelationbetweenthemfostersanenvironmentofacademicoriginalityandcreativity.TheSchooliscomprisedofsixdepartments:theDepartmentofArtDesign,theDepartmentofIndustrialDesign,theDepartmentofFineArts,theDepartmentofCommunications,andtheDepartmentofMusic,tworesearchinstitutes:InternationalInstituteofAppliedArtsandInstituteofDesignandResearchforMan-Machine-EnvironmentEngineeringSystem,fourresearchcenters:theCenterofComparativeLiteratureandContemporaryCulture,theCenterofFilmandTelevisionCulture,theCenterofModernArts,andtheCenterofBa&ShuDialectsandLiterature,andthreestudiosincludingtheCentralStudioofArtisticCreation,theStudioforCommunication,FilmandTelevision,andtheMusicStudio.TheSchoolalsoservesasthebaseforthetrainingoftalentsandintellectualsinthefieldofdesignartsinSichuanProvince,andisnowengagedintheconstructionofnationaleducationbaseforthedevelopmentofuniversitystudentculturalawareness.Amongthe150full-timefacultymembersoftheSchool,thereareover20professorsand40associateprofessors,over70%ofthestaffhavePh.D.orM.A.degrees,andmanyofthemarerenownedscholarsandartistsreturningfromAustria,Germany,U.S.,Japan,Russiaetc.afterthecompletionoftheiroverseasstudies.Inaddition,over40prestigiousartistsandscholarsareworkingastheadvisorsoradjunctprofessorsoftheSchool.TheSchooloffersacompleterangeofB.A,M.A.,andPh.Dprogramsincluding1FirstGradeDisciplineforPh.DDegree,7SecondGradeDisciplinesforPh.DDegree,3FirstGradeDisciplinesforM.A.,and9B.A.programs.Atpresent,over2300undergraduatestudents,500masteranddoctoratecandidates,and150studentsforcontinuingstudiesattendtheSchool.
